Lifeguards / Camp Counselors / Tennis Instructors
The Town of Oxford is currently accepting applications/resumes for the seasonal positions of Lifeguards, Camp Counselors and Tennis Instructors for their 2008 Summer Program. Successful applicants should have previous experience working with children, along with good social, interpersonal, and communication skills. Lifeguards should be appropriately certified. All successful candidates must pass CORI/SORI checks. Salaries range $8.50 - $12.00/per hour depending upon position and experience. These seasonal positions are approximately up to 40 hours per week for 6 – 10 weeks.

HEAD LIFE GUARD
ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to the Community Programs Director and/or the Summer Camp Director.
BASIC FUNCTION: Performs supervisory and administrative duties in the daily operation of the Oxford Town Beach at the beach site known as Carbuncle Pond.
SCOPE OF POSITION: Supervises the training of lifeguards and other beach personnel, and oversees the management of all beach activities
and beach facility.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises, schedules and coordinates lifeguard rotation, swim lesson program and guard work schedule.
2. Maintains accurate records of current staff certifications (WSI, LGT, CPR, First Aid) and re-certifies if needed.
3. Responsible for all in-service staff training and emergency procedure drills. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
4. Supervises daily, weekly and monthly staff conditioning.
5. Keeps all daily beach records to include: Guest Receipts, Swim Class Records, Daily Log, Facility and Rest Room Checks.
6.~Writes up mid-year and year-end staff evaluations.
7.~Responsible for daily beach and facility maintenance.
8.~Plans daily activities.
9.~Prepares weekly staff payroll sheets.
10. Assists where needed for smooth beach operation to include: assisting guards and swim instructors.
11. Enforces all beach rules and regulations.
12. Maintains cordial staff-patron relations and mediates all staff and/or patron disputes.
13. Insures the proper use and nighttime storage of all safety equipment, beach supplies and small craft equipment.
14. Submits written year-end beach report and inventory list.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have considerable knowledge of all rules and regulations pertaining to safe waterfront operations.~ Minimum of four (3) years experience in aquatic setting to include some leadership responsibility or equivalent.~ Must have proven ability to lead and teach other employees, maintain discipline, deal with the general public and be able to maintain the respect and cooperation of associates and beach users.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Responder, and Water Safety Instructor
